"Your body knows. I help you listen." – Carie Fox
Carie Fox spent a good chunk of her life navigating chronic illness, learning to listen to her body rather than to force solutions. The Feldenkrais Method® gave her a framework for what she'd discovered through necessity - and a way to share it. Her previous work as an environmental mediator and conflict coach turned out to be especially useful, for she had spent three decades helping people find their own solutions to seemingly intractable problems. The law degree and master's in soil science? Those taught her to work with complex systems where attention to underlying patterns matters more than surface intervention. All of it prepared her for the work she does now: helping people discover their body's natural intelligence.
Carie's movement lessons supports that discovery. Whether working with seniors seeking better balance, kayakers refining their stroke, performers enhancing stage presence, or anyone living with pain, she guides people in finding their own inner teacher. The hands-on work–what Moshe Feldenkrais called "friendly hands"--helps people refresh their idea of what is possible. Group movement lessons, in person or on Zoom, create space for exploration and play rather than fixing. (And, spontaneously and at the student’s own rate, ‘fixing’ just… happens.)
Her approach avoids steering people toward predetermined outcomes. As a mediator, she learned to listen for what wanted to emerge rather than imposing solutions. She brings that same philosophy to movement work: each body has its own intelligence, and awareness develops naturally when you're not forcing it. Participants consistently report breakthrough moments and discoveries that transfer to daily life.
Carie supports movement communities where people learn from her and from each other. Pay attention to your body, don't force it, stay curious. Have fun. Seek what pleases you. These principles guide both her movement work and how she approaches coaching.
