  • "I was surprised by how just the gentlest of movements provided a large impact. And the way my joints moved in different positions I hadn't experienced before and the relaxing release of letting go."

  • “My neck hasn’t felt this good in thirty years!”

  • "I wish I had known about this 20 years ago! After a short time doing Carie’s movements, I am edging my kayak with more ease, and it feels more stable. This means better maneuverability, and more pleasure. I can see the difference it makes with my clients, and it has become an integral part of how I teach sea kayaking."

  • "The greatest learning from the hands on was, still is: let go!! hat huge ah ha moment of realization of places tensed! I no longer have to do that. I can take the time to check in, locate the tension (or “holding”) and let it go! "

About Carie Fox

Carie was (and still is) a mediator with a law degree and a background in science and all. And then she discovered Body Wisdom and a new way of engaging. In some respects, this new interest is an enhancement of old skills she loves. Mediating and Body Wisdom are surprisingly similar: no forcing, pay attention, be kind. And in other respects, Body Wisdom is a revelation—finding in herself a more elegant stride, moving pain-free, celebrating easier ways to organize herself. And then, as so often is the case for people who have been in great pain and found relief, Carie found joy in taking this learning deeper and helping other people develop a wider, more pleasurable, more efficient repertoire of movements—and ways of being still, too!

And so… Carie embarked upon another career. She is certified in the Feldenkrais Method.® She has developed a series of Body Wisdom classes specifically for kayakers, as well as with the Oregon Mediation Association to enhance embodied approaches for mediators—yes, attentive movement affects not only your comfort in your own body but also the way you interact with other people. Or, as a fellow kayaker has said ‘These classes have changed how I move about in the world.’
